Color Blender

This is a fun interactive program where you select two colors from the 216 shown below and see up to 10 different colors that would be in the range moving from your first color to your second.  l especially like to use either white or black as Color 1 along with any other color from the palatte to see the different tints, tones, shades, and values of that color.  For instance, using white as color 1 and navy as color 2, set the midpoints at 10 and hit the blend button.  You'll see the lightest of blues to the navy you began with.  There are thousands of possibilities using the color chips below.

  • Unless you're into computer design, you can ignore the Format Hex, RGB and RGB% numbers.  They are the numbers assigned to colors in computer programming.  On the Hex scale there are about 16 million different colors.

  • Move your cursor over the Color 1 cell and click, when it turns yellow go over to click on your first color.  (The Color 1 cell is often already yellow when you begin.)

  • Move your cursor over the Color 2 cell and click, when it turns yellow, go over and click on your second color.

  • Pick the number of midpoints you'd like to see.  This is the number of different colors you would like displayed within the two colors you've selected.

  • Click on the "blend" button.  The palette will show the colors you input as well as the requested number of midpoint colors.
