"Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love"

2008 SCHEDULE

60" x 60"

The designer of this quilt, Bette Runnels, and I share the same quilting philosophy, "...there is no right or wrong way to do these things, only what works best for you, achieving the results you want, in the easiest manner."

Be open to different ways of doing the same thing and choose what works best for you.

SQUARE DANCE MINI WORKSHOP
Down East Quilters' Guild
Jacksonville, ME
Friday, May 2, 3 to 4:30 pm
Guild Contact: Pauline Wood  255-8333

Developed by Martha Thompson, this is an ingenious technique made by first piecing a simple quilt of squares Then cut it apart, turn the blocks, and stitch the pieces together again into a second quilt.

If your husband thought you were crazy just cutting plain fabric into pieces and sewing it back together, he'll really think you're "nuts" cutting a quilt top apart.

Sewing machine needed.  To be quilted, as desired, at home.

COTTAGE CREEK QUILTS
Charlotte Elementary School
May 17, 9 am to 4 pm

These charming wallhangings are designed by Pam Puyleart for Cottage Creek Quilts.  Her Backdoor Quilt Series has quickly become a "must have" to help decorate your home for all seasons.  The creations stem from a mixture of traditional and folk art. They are appliquéd and quilted at the same time, making quilting fast, fun & easy for everyone!

In this workshop you will learn to do fun and easy, fusible and soft-edge machine appliqué, hand embroidery and then finish your piece with a little machine quilting.

Six different patterns are available for this class (see left).   Choose the one you like and start gathering fabric.  Once you've made one you'll want to try another.

Sewing machine needed.  Advanced beginner class.  A six-hour workshop.  $20
